Snow day! Schoolboy = YES, Business Owner = NOOoo

I used to love winter, I used to love it even more if it snowed. Snowy roads, especially in the UK, means massive disruption to public services and roads. It used to mean no school, later it meant no need to trudge to work. Now, as a business owner with a large percentage of business relying on deliveries, it means glum faces all around!

Ice skating anyone?

It’s not too bad, we still get the usual suspects who battle through any kind of weather to get the chips, fried rice and curry sauce in a box. Somehow, the grocery deliveries happened and only the carrotts were missing! They’ll battle through the narrow streets to us again just deliver a bag of carrotts. Try that in London..

Tomorrows forcast is for bright skies, I hope it clears the snow off the roads long enough to get some sweet & sour chicken out to the masses! :-) The weather doesn’t look too good for the South of the country though, there’s a 18 inch snowfall predicted down there. oo-er!

How has the weather been affecting your area? do you love the snow or hate it?

i know exaclty how you feel, our first week back to green cleaning and we have to cancel all our jobs until this snow goes away. it’s been great fun to build snowmen and go out sledging but it’s not quite the same when you’re losing hundreds a day.

Snow and bad weather. Well on a personal level I find the cold refreshing and the scenery simply beautiful.

However, Ireland just wasn’t prepared for such weather and the entire country nearly came to a standstill. So ultimately I guess it is just a matter of being self-sufficient. If you are prepared for bad weather and have proper clothing and a well insulated house you probably do like snow.

As for businesses, it depends on which business you are in. If you are lucky enough to have an online business, and providing broadband is still intact, it shouldn’t affect you.

However, if you are like most people who have to get up extra early in the morning because of the bad road conditions – well you probably aren’t going to be in love with wintry scenes!

The snow has been coming down hard the last few days in Flagstaff, AZ. Roads closed, flash floods in the lower elevations. The only downside to all the snow is that a lot of businesses in Flagstaff have had roofs collapse and the flooding has caused some to evacuate their homes.
