Blogger CommentLuv
After 16 hours of starting and then rewriting and then editing and then adjusting and then tweaking…. I have got a version of CommentLuv working on Blogger blogs.
I had it working before but you needed to use Haloscan as the commenting system and the problem with that is, it’s obsolete and a Blogger blogger would lose all their comments if they switched.
Now, I have it working well with js-kit which is a replacement commenting system for blogger blogs that backs up all your previous comments and you can take your comments with you when you move blog platforms.
Try it out here: http://cl-jskit.blogspot.com/2008/10/first-post-before-jskit-install.html
I’m too tired now to tweak the last little bits so I’m off to bed to dream about the impending tutorial! :-/
Dotclear CommentLuv
Eric Maziade of inthemaze.net has made a perfect copy of CommentLuv for Dotclear blogs. It’s fully functional, it’s even compatible with the upcoming contest!
Nice one Eric. Lovely code.
You’ve done a great job on getting all the functionality in there including the heart info box. I’m really impressed!
If you have Dotclear for your blog, give CommentLuv a go and make the blogging world a happier place
Typepad CommentLuv
Hot on the heels of the Blogger commentluv, I have adjusted it a bit to work with Typepad blogs.
It’s a pretty simple process to install and seems to work quite well.
You can test it out here http://commentluv.typepad.com/fiddyp/2008/10/prepare-the-com.html
I think things are looking up!
I will add some options capabilities to the blogger and typepad version when my eyesight goes back to normal!

I ask one innocent little question this morning, and you are off and running – 16 hours?? You deserve a break. Sleep well!
It looks great. I’m looking forward to reading the tutorial you “dream up”!

I can’t wait to tell my blogspot buds! Well done, Andy.
witchypoo´s last blog post..Road Trip
Holly: yup, it’s partly your fault. I can still see the innocent looking tweet that made me take the left fork instead of the right. in fact, trying to get it to work for blogger revealed 3 different ways to do it.
I had the vital flash of inspiration while I watched prison break with a cup of tea during a break!
Witchypoo: thanks! I knew I’d get it eventually
Okay, okay, it wasn’t so innocent – the minute I knew you’d taken the bait, I just kept going. (“Oh, too bad the user has to jump through hoops, like having OpenID – you know half don’t have it, and the other half won’t comment if they have to WORK at it…”) I’m a tech writer, and this is what I LOVE about working with programmers – they just don’t give up in the face of an intriguing challenge. (I’m the same way; as one friend said, I have the analytical mind to be a programmer – I just don’t have the patience.)
There must be something subliminal about having a flash of inspiration while watching Prison Break.

Now more people can get hooked!
Nicole Price´s last blog post..Plan for Halloween
Holly: actually I’ve had a blogger version of commentluv in my head growing since I made the very first wordpress version. it’s only now that I have enough knowledge to make it work. even 1 month ago I wouldn’t have been able to do it.
as for prison break, it was series 4 episode 8 where the chinese guy meets the assasin dude and gets shot. for some reason that made me think of a better way than using openID for the url would be to add my own field instead.
go figure!?
Nicole: indeed and just like a dealer, it’s all free to start with and once you’re hooked, I’ll charge you a dime a go
Phillip: glad you agree
Great job, Andy! I don’t know how you do it.

Oh, yeah – I wasn’t taking credit for giving you the IDEA. I saw mention of it on your site. I just figured it was kind of a vague “some day” (or the infamous “RSN”) and thought you could use a little goading.

heather: that’s easy, just don’t go out for 6 weeks.
Susan: I got another version for Typepad just hours away too
Holly: it’s ok, you can take credit! I do need a kick up the butt to keep me going!
It’ll be ready to use when I get the instructions up and make a page on commentluv.com to create the code for the user to enter.
jules: it works pretty well, I’m quite pleased with it even though it’s a minified version of the one on here.
You should contact Blogger Buster and see if she’ll write about it….a whole lotta people there

Note that it’s also available on CMS platforms like Drupal, in addition to blogging software. Not for Joomla yet though. I like the new “Choose a different post to show” feature.

It feels great to know that CommentLuv can be tweaked to work on other Blog platforms. I’m getting Interspire Website Publisher for my new blog and I’ll need this plug-in and KeywordLuv installed on it.
I just wondering does your comment section dofollow or nofollow?
