I have a head full of ideas on what to do with CommentLuv and I’m pleased how it has come so far but I think I’m in danger of feature creep with the addition of the click tracking function. I think I shall keep this off by default and label it experimental.
I think CommentLuv is useful for quite a few reasons, one of them is finding great blogs from the interesting title under their comments and it’s nice to see a connection between commenters (I know it’s commentators but you know what I mean). I really would like to see the stats for how many blogs have reciprocal commenters and how man blogs share commenters. That would be really interesting to see, the raw data I am getting now is interesting but when I get a good interface for displaying it then it will be really interesting in w00t kind of way.
I have a busy week ahead and I know I was supposed to release the stable version this weekend but I think there are very few little things left to fix and maybe I can go ahead with the full version next week.
In the meantime, you can download the very latest version which appears to be going quite well here
now compatible with Brians Threaded Comments
Just deactivate the old one, upload the new one overwriting the folder and then activate again. Please check the settings page in the dashboard/settings/commentluv and of course let me know if you get any problems.

You know what they say: Simple is Beautiful.
That statement is the core of my design, and it’s at the core of some programmers, too.

My simplest things have always worked the best so I think I will just concentrate on getting it working on as many blogs as possible with no errors! thanks for your help
Sometimes keeping it simple is the only way to go. I’m off to try the beta. Good work Andy.

Thanks for your commentluv, that is very useful for me…

Andy I was wondering if it was possible to register more than one blog in commentluv.com
sire: I think it’s possible in the future but this remote script is running on my server and 1 extra site per use means 10x more bandwidth. it doesn’t sound much when you think it’s only 10 links but for 100,000 hits a day it soon adds up!
I suppose one way of showing posts from another blog is to use the commentluv site to manually set your feed to the other blogs feed address before you comment
No worries Andy, not a problem.
Sires last blog post..Wassup With The Link Directory? Why Not List Your Blog?
I have thought about it a lot while I develop and have even used queries to the db so it may in the future have the ability to register more than 1 blog so it’s not a lost cause, just something that can wait and if there’s enough demand and it’s possible, I’ll add in the function.
I’m sure I’ve gotten more readers/subscribers/commenters because of it, as have others I visit.

Maybe you can introduce 2 versions of the plugin. one simple version for free download and 1 advanced version with statistics and support as a paid version … just an idea…

thanks Dennis
ASPR: hmm, that may be an idea for the future but I think it would need to have an awful lot more users to consider adding ‘premium’ features. I’ll see if I can the basic ones running first!
I like the title but i don’t know what “CommentLuv” really means. Can any one explain this team to me. Thanks in advance
Its not sometimes, its always…I don even know how to keep it simple…
i do like the idea of somehow keeping tabs on reciprocal commenters in blogs. after all, for me, blogging and comments are about conversation. i enjoy leaving comments on other people’s blogs, but i get an even bigger kick out of learning later that the author responded to my comment. again, it’s the conversation.
