It’s bad enough when regular people do this. What’s really annoying is when it happens in a store … you’re standing in line, waiting for service, and the phone keeps ringing … and sales person keeps answering it, instead of helping the people who are standing right in front of him/her. lol, great way to do business.
hi andy, this is a good post… simple ways to show etiquette is becoming a less popular habit these days particularly in western countries… here in the philippines, the value of respect especially when interrupting a conversation is highly regarded
Hi Andy,
It has happened a LOT of times to me; believe me. People made me wait in the grocery store, in the bus, in a meeting, hell; even in a public toilet. Grrrrr
PS: My first comment over here. Wish you a merry Christmas.
thanks mate! what a coincidence, I just got up to see what email came in and it was the notification of your comment at exactly 00:00 , christmas day to the very second. great timing dude!
It has happened to me but I can tolerate cellphones, no biggie. The most successful interrupt is when two people are talking and the one acts bored. It’s called being passive aggressive!
hehe, I know what you mean. My friend does this stare thing when he wants you to stop talking, it’s quite effective if you don’t know about it. I’m now impervious to it and happily chat on when he tries his Jedi stare trick!

Todd: oh yeah, that is one of the most annoying things a minimum wager can do!
Jessie: there should be a universal way to attract someones attention politely (apart from using a phone of course!)
Claire: me too!
