Gifts on special offer

A friend has started an online store called Flaming Stock where you can buy gadgets and gifts at special prices due to the unique way in which he has set up the store.
He buys a bulk amount of a single item and only sells that product at a discount until stock runs out, doing it like this means he can offer something like the current item, a Wireless bathroom speaker system for a tidy 21.99 which includes postage (UK only)

I think it’s a pretty novel concept and said I’d give his site a mention here, take a look and you might find something cool at a bargain price!

Wow…. that’s a pretty smart idea! It’s similar to dealdotcom in that they focus on just one products and when it’s gone, it’s gone. SEO wise that seems like a hard project to conquer since the product is always changing, but word of mouth, this will be a huge opportunity.

Does he only ship to the UK or does he only include postage when shipping to the UK?

WFA: I agree, the SEO will be a bit of a bind I’m sure. For this site I think it’ll have to rely on good marketing rather than wait until google and others index the product page only to see the stock sell out before the indexing becomes useful

Dennis: I think it’s UK only for inclusive shipping. I’ll have to let him know to put that on the site. thanks for pointing it out

He may do better if he could go international as well, just including the courier charges just like Amazon does.

Visited flaming stock – they sell some really good products, I am really tempted by the keyboard. He is smart to buy in bulk and then once its gone its gone – it is a profitable way of staying ahead

Really nice stuff there. Quite liked the illuminating keyboard. I agree with Nicole. Wish he would go international.

Nice clean layout and great idea for a website promotion. May I add something of value?

After a look at the site I completely overlooked the “newsletter” part even after I looked for a place to sign up for updates.

Maybe a little nice email related picture or a little colour to attract attention to the sign up box…. That’s my 5cents!

It sounds like the old fashion special items mail order company. The items are hard to find stuff, only available by mail order. But, the marketing media changed from newspaper classifieds to web.

That is a pretty good Idea. With he right contacts you can get company run out items at a really good price and sell them cheap and still make money. I suppose that your friend has a busy site so that he doesn’t have to hang onto the goods for too long a time.

This is a good link. Thanks for sharing this, and curiously enough a wireless bathroom speaker system is something I’ve been considering lately.

This is a fantastic idea! I agree with previous points made regarding SEO – organic traffic would be the biggest obstacle for an enterprise such as this.

I think you would have to play on the strengths of this type of store, i.e. the fact that you are able to offer prices considerably lower than the competition. Probably the best type of marketing for this type of store then would be to subscribe to a price comparison site such as kelkoo, where you would always feature as the lowest price.

Another point to consider would be ensuring you could sell all of the stock in a reasonable timeframe, otherwise you could end up with surplus stock you are unable to sell. Whether or not this is an issue would probably depend on the overheads of your store though.
