I am getting seriously behind schedule, well, if I had a schedule, I’d be seriously behind it.
why?
this is why
and a little closer
It seems Vista or my M3A790GXH motherboard or it’s Radeon HD3300 integrated graphics card or in fact, all three are conspiring to wait until I modify some code in some awesome way and just before I can save it, send the screen in to spaz mode.
I can’t even listen to music or watch movies on my pc now for fear of it crashing completely and destroying any code or blog posts that I have open. It’s really really starting to piss me off!
It looks like it’s a graphics card problem because of the corruption on the screen and also because it seems to happen more often when playing a movie. That’s not exclusive though, it can happen when the pc has been on for a few hours and my blog post/ forum post/ code addition/ research is reaching a critical point. It even happened when there was nothing running except vista sat on the desktop.
I hate it.
new bios, no joy
new gfx card drivers. no joy
new all in one drivers. no joy at all.
Has anyone out there in internet land seen this happen to them? any hardware guru’s know what to do?
I am thinking of buying a new graphics card and disabling the onboard one. Do you think that could help?
Oh, the event log says nothing (except kernel processor power errors at around the time of the crash). I can’t find anything remotely similar from my searches and no amount of driver/bios updates has made a difference. hate it hate it hate it!
please help if you can..

And I thought I was the only dinosaur crying for oldest MS editions.

Have you Ever thought of Switching to Linux ?.I am using Linux mint it’s Quite easy and unlike other Distros form linux. I would actually never have had a blog if I had not Switched to Linux. This was because I was always looking for ways to speed up Vista.

I tried Linux, it didn’t like my two monitor setup on my graphics card
Yo, I’m checkin’ out how CommentLuv works now that I’ve signed up! Nice app…!
I would suspect the graphics card in your case. Especially if the symptoms have become worse with time, it could signify hardware degradation. Also: did you try re-seating the system memory (since onboard gfx probably uses “shared memory” with your DRAM)? I’ve also seen problems due to bad contact, although with built-in gfx it’s very unlikely.
I recommend to get a cheap add-on gfx card. Personally I love Nvidia: I just got a 9500GT with a heatsink (no fan = quieter for movies) for about €50 when I was in Taiwan. I think it was one of the many varieties Leadtek makes (some with fan, some without). Schweet! And it blows away the onboard ATI crap (which wouldn’t work with Linux).
