A huge thanks to all those that voted for CommentLuv in the WPMU plugin contest. CommentLuv won the peoples choice awards!
US$250 from the team at Bloglo.co.il
US$100 fromTrent Adams
WPMU DEV Premium yearly account
In the spirit of the way CommentLuv gives something back to the blogs community members, I have decided to use most of the cash prize money as the fund for a great CommentLuv giveaway!
The particulars are still being arranged while I collect the money from the prize donors and set up some code and pages to administrate the contest. This should be around the beginning of next week…
the best bit is, to be in with a chance to win you just need to be a CommentLuv.com member and make comments on CommentLuv enabled blogs (latest version 2.5.4). A random comment will get a prize winning notification URL instead of their last blog post and as long as that comment is published with the link then BOTH the owner of the blog AND the comment author win a spot prize of real cash money!!
rules and yadayada will be published near the time the contest will start..
thanks again for voting for CommentLuv. It had nearly 50% of the total vote at the end! awesome.

Congratulations, Andy. Man, you sure put a lot of work into it over the last month, and all those updates kept us on our toes. But it’s such a great program that you deserved the kudos for it.

Congratulations, Andy, it’s well deserved!
BTW have you seen BuddyPress? – http://buddypress.org/ – aims to make WPMU into a social networking platform. Might be opportunities there for CommentLuv integration?
Cheers, Jon

Yan: thanks very much for your support!
ASPR: I do I do!
Mitch: glad you could manage all the updates
Jon: buddypress looks awesome. fortunately, it is based on MU which CommentLuv now works on so no compatibility problems there.
I was considering making commentluv.com into an MU site, especially now I have a WPMU dev account but I am not sure I would be able to give it as much time as a multi-user site needs. If I had some investment for a staff I would love to go down this road but for now, I have just enough time to keep it going and prepare for the upcoming giveaway contest bonanza!
Your 125 ad is up on commentluv.com , I put a pink border around it to make it sit right on the page. I’ll leave it up there for a week while I sort out an advertising page

Personally, I killed nofollow on my WP. Follow or no follow, the spammer will come. The only real defense is vigilant monitoring because it doesn’t matter what defenses you have, the spammer will find a way to overcome it. Thank God, WP has Akismet.

I have a typepad account. Is there a way i can make it a do follow coz typepad is kinda really newstuff for me.
Please i need help, coz most of my sites are do follow. I’ve followed this movement since it’s inception.
Regards,
Jeff

Thanks for a great and informative post. I just added DoFollow & Coment Luv plugin to my blog.
April 8th, 2009 on 11:10 am
While the do-follow is much sought after these days, a no-follow will still get you some traffic as well, depending on the niche of the site which you leave your comments on.
