Wordpress Theme Design – Tessa Blakeley Silver

I bought a book recently after seeing it mentioned in the WP dashboard news items, it’s called Wordpress Theme Design by Tessa Blakeley Silver and although a lot of the information regarding the functions of wordpress can be found at the codex, the book gives you so much more like the process gone through to design a theme from scratch.
I do quite a lot of sites in wordpress now and find it much easier to provide a client with a website that can be updated so easily, a few plugins here and there and you can provide a website that does all and more that’s needed.
Usually I get a standard theme and cut it up a bit and change the css to give me my site, or create in photoshop and send off for wordpressing but lately due to some more custom design requests I’ve received and the always dependable mistakes that freelancers can make I have wanted to do the whole thing myself from scratch..
I’ve downloaded a tutorial before about WP theme design from small potato before it was taken over and that was pretty darn useful but was made a little while ago so it wasn’t 2.5 specific.
That’s why I like what Tessa has put her book, it takes you step by step through the process of creating a non-blog wordpress blog, from sketch to WP core code. It’s made a big difference to my initial prototyping of concept sites and has really opened my eyes to what you can do with a bit of manipulation of the wordpress template tags. I’m even working on a magazine style front page for here so I can have a featured post for contests that stays up while it’s open for entries as well as excerpts to the regular posts..

I just found out by email from someone congratulating me on my elottery win, I didn’t know what he meant. I did receive a cheque for 50 quid this morning from elottery though. It was for a bunch of smaller prize wins added together and it tipped over my requested payout level. I pretty much win a small prize every week but I didn’t think it was because of that so I went online to check my accounts..
After checking my 3rd account online I found out that my elottery syndicate had matched 4 numbers plus the bonus ball last Wednesday for a total of EIGHTY EIGHT THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED AND FORTY EIGHT POUNDS AND NO PENCE!!! and it was for an account that I had signed up at least 5 people for, so in effect, my entry fee was completely covered by commission (and it has been like this since the second day I joined elottery). So I won my share of the prize with something that didn’t even cost me a penny to play! haha.
I’ve been telling people for ages how good elottery is and they couldn’t believe it and would say that ,
a.) you can’t make money with something that pays a small amount per person
b.) you can’t win the lottery
but that’s not so and I’ve proven it again and again, I’ve been earning and winning for years now and I only ever payed once to join, at 10pm on a weekday night I signed up and by the next morning I had signed up enough people to completely cover my monthly fee so in effect, since the day after I joined I have been paid to play the lottery for free

I managed to catch the Monday night elottery broadcast today and although I’ve heard the business presentation a squillion times, I actually got excited about elottery again!
I’ve been involved with it for a few years now and even though I continue to bring in new members here and there, they are mostly from my total leads orders and my automated sites and autoresponders. I rarely get the chance to do a face to face presentation these days which is probably due to most face to face meetings I have are talking about 10k+ commercial contracts and it seems a little bit out of place to be mentioning something that costs a fiver to join!
My mistake! I used to do it before and successfully signed up a professional football club who have just recently been promoted up a league and will soon have television coverage (and lucky me has a big grab a grand banner behind the goal!) so I think it’s time to start back on the elottery trail again. I did really well last time I was active with elottery and my team hasn’t depleted much in the months and months of neglect that I have inflicted on them, combine this with the new payplan and structure that has come about because of… COMPLIANCE… and I’m 100% positive that I’ll be earning more than ever (I’ve earned literally tens of thousands of pounds in commission from elottery so far)
What is this compliance thing?
It’s due to new European law coming in to force about networking and other commission based opportunities..
This is the best news I have heard for elottery since I joined because…
- no longer is it necessary for an affiliate to be a player
- the opening up of commission levels is no longer dependent on how many affiliates you sign up
- getting bonus payments has been made much much easier
- no more freeloaders

I had it working before but you needed to use Haloscan as the commenting system and the problem with that is, it’s obsolete and a Blogger blogger would lose all their comments if they switched.
Now, I have it working well with js-kit which is a replacement commenting system for blogger blogs that backs up all your previous comments and you can take your comments with you when you move blog platforms.
